Medicare Open Enrollment Is Open Now: Review Your Plan Before December 7
This is your yearly chance to change your Medicare coverage for free. Here is what to check and when to act.

Your yearly window to fix your coverage is open
Medicare Open Enrollment runs from October 15 through December 7. This is the time of year when you can review your plan and switch to one that fits you better.
If you have Medicare, this window matters. Plans change their costs and what they cover every year. The plan that was right for you last year may not be the best one now.
You do not have to do anything if you are happy with your plan. But it is smart to take a look. A quick review could save you money or get you better coverage.
What you can change during Open Enrollment
During this window you can switch from Original Medicare to a Medicare Advantage plan, or switch back to Original Medicare. You can also join, drop, or change a Medicare drug plan (Part D).
If you take regular medicines, check that your drugs are still covered next year. Check the pharmacies too. These details can change from one year to the next.
Any change you make now takes effect January 1. So reviewing before December 7 means your new coverage starts right at the new year.
Checking your options is always free
You never have to pay anyone to review or change your Medicare plan. The official tools at Medicare.gov are free to use.
Be careful with anyone who pressures you to sign up fast or asks for payment to "help" you enroll. Official Medicare help does not work that way. You can get free, unbiased help from your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP).
Take your time. You have until December 7. There is no need to rush, just do not let the date slip past.
