If you delivered food for Grubhub or ordered from it, check your mail and your PayPal. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is sending payments totaling more than $23.8 million to people harmed by the company.

This money is going to drivers and diners. It comes from a settlement, so you do not have to do anything fancy to receive it. Most people will get a check in the mail. Some will get a PayPal payment instead.

The FTC says it is sending payments to 640,038 affected consumers. That is a lot of people, and you could be one of them.

Why the FTC says this money is owed

In December 2024, the FTC and the Illinois Attorney General took action against Grubhub. They alleged the company deceived drivers about how much they would earn delivering food.

They also said Grubhub blocked some diners from their accounts and their own funds, and listed restaurants on its platform without their permission.

Under the settlement, Grubhub was ordered to make changes, like honestly advertising driver pay and giving users a way to dispute blocked accounts. The refund payments are part of making things right for people who were harmed.
