Bought From GOAT? The FTC Is Mailing Refund Checks to 6,205 People
If you shopped the sneaker and apparel marketplace GOAT, a refund could be on its way to you right now. Here is how to tell if money is coming, and why it costs nothing to get it.

Refund checks are going out now
The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is sending more than $100,000 in refunds to people who shopped the online marketplace GOAT, which sells sneakers, apparel, and accessories.
This round of payments is going to 6,205 customers who have not yet received money. Most people will get a check in the mail. Some will get a payment through PayPal instead.
This is money the FTC says you are owed. You do not have to sign up, buy anything, or pay a fee to receive it.
Why this money is being refunded
In a 2024 complaint, the FTC said GOAT failed to mail some priority orders as fast as promised. The FTC also said the company did not give buyers the choice to accept the delay or cancel for a quick refund, which breaks an FTC rule on shipping.
The FTC also said GOAT promised full refunds for products that were fake, wrong, or not as described, but often denied those requests, gave only partial refunds, or handed out store credit instead.
In 2025, GOAT directly refunded more than $736,000 to affected customers as part of its settlement with the FTC. This new batch of checks and PayPal payments is for people who still have not been paid.
Cash your payment before it expires
If you get a check, cash it within 90 days, as the check will say. If you get a PayPal payment, redeem it within 30 days.
These are real deadlines printed on your payment, so do not set the check aside and forget it.

Watch out for refund scams
The FTC never requires you to pay money or share account information to get a payment. If someone asks you to pay a fee, send money, or hand over your bank login to claim your refund, that is a scam.
The real FTC will never demand money, make threats, tell you to transfer money, or promise you a prize.
OpenFinancial is not a government agency and is not involved in these payments. The official refund process is free, and the only people handling it are the FTC and its refund administrator.
